The heavy burden of custodianship – BBNaija
The housemates struggle with their feelings as they bear the burden of being Custodians.
The Custodian title in the BBNaija No Loose Guard house has proven to be one of the most significant and weighty responsibilities. With great power comes great responsibility, and for the pair that holds the title, it’s a role that can quickly become a heavy burden. This was evident with the Streeze pair, Mayor Frosh and Toby Forge, who recently had individual diary sessions with Biggie to discuss the aftermath of Sunday’s eviction, their reasons for evicting Ndi Nne, and how this decision has impacted their time in the house.
Mayor Frosh’s emotional confession
During his diary session, Mayor Frosh revealed the emotional toll the Custodian role had taken on him. He told Biggie that Toby Forge made the final decision about which pair to evict because he felt that Toby Forge was more tactical in his approach. Mayor Frosh admitted to having a close relationship with Nne, which made the decision to evict the Ndi Nne pair particularly painful. “The decision was based on alliances and decisions by my partner,” Mayor Frosh explained, shedding light on the tough choices that come with the Custodian title. The emotional strain was evident, and the weight of this decision will linger with Mayor Frosh for some time.
In contrast, Toby Forge approached the situation with a more strategic mindset. During his diary session, Toby emphasised the importance of building alliances in the house and how this influenced his decision to evict Ndi Nne. Despite feeling overwhelmed by the responsibility, Toby stood by his decision, believing that it was necessary to maintain balance in the house. He pointed out that Ndi Nne’s close alliance with the Mbadiwe Twins, Wanni x Handi, and Aces created an imbalance of allegiance that needed to be “fixed”. For Toby, the decision was about securing a more balanced and fair environment in the house, even if it meant making a tough call.
The new Custodians: Wanni x Handi
As the new Custodians, Wanni x Handi have already started speculating about the powers that come with their title. In their individual diary sessions, both expressed relief at not having to face the threat of eviction this week. Wanni shared her thoughts on what their Custodian power might entail, suggesting that it could involve the ability to save one housemate while evicting another. Wanni didn’t hesitate to mention that she wouldn’t shy away from using this power against Rhuthee, with whom she and Handi had a heated argument on Sunday. The tension between these housemates is visible, and it’s clear that Wanni is ready to use her newfound power if necessary.
Handi spills the tea on Topher
Handi, the second Custodian, had her own share of drama to discuss during her diary session. She spillt hot tea about Topher, who is supposedly in a relationship with Anita. According to Handi, Topher asked her out despite publicly claiming Anita, and at one point, even rubbed his leg against hers under the table while Anita was present. This revelation has only added fuel to the fire, and it seems Topher might have some explaining to do.
As the Custodian powers continue to be a source of tension in the house, it’s becoming increasingly clear that those who hold the title will face significant challenges. The weight of these decisions, the pressure of alliances, and the ever-present drama are all part of the Custodian experience. Whether future Custodians will be able to handle the power or whether it will be weaponised to further personal agendas remains to be seen.
